 Sad farewells

We had a tough start to the year losing three important members of the Everybreath family. Vanessa, Marion and Michael. It’s definitely a hard blow to the group but we will rally together to celebrate what they bought to the group as individuals and fondly remember them. If anyone is struggling with coming to terms with their passings as I know it can bring on feelings of anxiety, please reach out. All our journeys and emotions are different so don’t feel embarrassed of these feelings.

Fundraising for endoscopy unit

Everybreath are passionate about early diagnosis and making the path to diagnosis as smooth as possible. Some of you will be aware that a new endoscopy unit is being built at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Bromley.

Patients from the PRUH currently have to travel up to London for this procedure at present. The respiratory doctors want to set up a new navigational bronchoscopy service and maybe more diagnostic testing locally. This is where Everybreath comes in. Our fundraising will help the business case get off the ground. The benefits will be testing can be done closer to home and more importantly a lot quicker. Our target for this project is £20,000 and we have some exciting projects to help reach this target.

You can donate directly to the cause on the JustGiving website  selecting the early diagnostic equipment for lung cancer page.

Walking over the O2

On the 16th March 30 of us will be walking over the O2 to raise funds. Each setting up a just giving page to reach a minimum target of £200. This should give the campaign a boost, raising a sum of over £6,000 which is fantastic. Those doing the walk comprise of patients, nurses and friends and family.

 The Rock Choir

On the 27th January, the rock choir kindly put on a concert at the Orpington Village Hall. We had a good attendance and put on a bar and a raffle. After costs we raised £500.

Ten tors walk

emma ten tors

Teri’s daughter Emma will be taking on the ten tors, which is a 13 mile hike over moorland terrain on 19th May with three friends. We will be providing them with t-shirts to showcase who they are fundraising for. You can donate on Emma’s JustGiving page.

Quiz night

We will probably be hosting another quiz night in June, which is always so much fun and a great fundraiser. We will keep you informed once we have a date and venue planned.

The Summer Ball

Everybreath are hosting their first ever summer ball on the 6th September. This will be a great event and we will also benefit from raising the profile of the group and what we want to achieve in the future.

The tickets will be £75 each and the evening will comprise a three course meal, entertainment and an auction.

Next meeting

The next meeting will be Thursday 28th March, 3.30-5.30pm Farnborough Village Hall. All welcome.

These meetings are for your support. If you have any suggestions on guest speakers for any subject you would be interested in, ask one of the trustees and we can discuss and arrange if appropriate.
